LOCATIONS

Welcome to Santy's Taco Shop, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Chama, New Mexico, right along the busy US-84 highway. With its cozy atmosphere and a tantalizing menu that captures the essence of authentic Mexican cuisine, this small eatery has become a must-visit stop for both locals and travelers alike.

As you step into Santy's, you immediately sense the welcoming vibe, accentuated by a clean and inviting interior that makes it feel like home. The restaurant boasts a diverse array of dishes, but it is the flavorful tacos that have won over countless patrons. One customer, Kevin B Berger, raved about the carnitas, complimenting their taste and execution. Others have echoed his sentiments, with praises for the carne asada tacos that are perfectly packed, seasoned impeccably, and devoid of the usual double tortillas that can sometimes weigh down the dish. Each taco is a culinary experience, enhancing your palate with vibrant flavors.

Another standout dish is the pozole, which has caught the attention of food lovers for its rich consistency and abundance of meat. Although one reviewer noted it could be slightly salty, the overall reception has remained warm, indicating it's a comforting choice to complement a road trip snack or a leisurely meal. And don’t forget to try the breakfast tacos when visiting for the morning meal—Audrey Rodriguez couldn’t get enough of the fluffy eggs and variety of salsas; a perfect blend to kick-start the day.

The drive-thru option at Santy's Taco Shop is an added convenience, especially for those on the go. However, be warned—when opting for takeout, you might want to double-check your order to avoid any mix-ups, as noted by a regular, KC Martel. Despite minor service hiccups, the staff's friendliness radiates throughout, making the experience even more delightful.

Prices are incredibly reasonable, with tacos costing just a little over two dollars each, ensuring that you can enjoy a satisfying meal without breaking the bank. For those with a sweet tooth, the churros have been singled out as a “top-tier” dessert, making for a delightful finish to your meal.

Santy’s Taco Shop isn’t just a quick stop; it’s an experience rich in flavors, warmth, and community. The positive reviews paint a picture of a restaurant that, while still fine-tuning some service aspects, undeniably serves up fresh and flavorful Mexican food that keeps customers coming back for more. Next time you find yourself in Chama, make sure to swing by and indulge in the tasty delights that Santy’s offers!

Stopped by here going through Chama and what a surprise! Great Mexico style mexican food! We tried multiple dishes and they were all flavorful and we'll done! The carnitas were delicious, toritos were amazing and even the ceviche was great! Highly recommended and we will be back! Thanks to the kitchen!

Great carne asada tacos. We appreciated not getting two tortillas per tacos. The meat was well seasoned and not chewy. The tacos were perfectly filled. Their guacamole salsa was so good and so was the green salsa. The pozole was also good, slightly salty but had a good consistency and color plus had lots of meat. They also have a drive thru option if you are in a hurry. Great find

Stopped by here on a road trip the recommendation of ladies at next door gas station. Small roadside place with only a few tables, but very clean and cozy inside. The burrito I had was extremely tasty, served up fresh and fast in a simple paper bag. The man and woman working that day were very friendly and hustling; evidently they have a robust take out business with the local folks. Highly recommended!

They have amazing breakfast tacos, the eggs were fluffy and the proteins were cooked perfectly. They had 4 different options for salsas, all were very tasty. The service was fantastic, but the atmosphere needs some improvement.

Update: ordered a bunch of food yesterday (9/24/23) and they didn't give me the tortillas that come with the combos plate but they did give me the one I paid extra for as I was trying to have three tortillas between my brothers and all I was given was one. For orders more than two items I would definitely go inside vs the drive-thru and then check everything. They're nice enough people but they seem to forget items or don't get the order right if it's too complicated. I'm marking the service down because of that **************** Original review: Grabbed the Santy's Rolled Tacos on like day #2 being open. Chicken version which were really good but would have been excellent if the carne asada they put on top wasn't fridge cold. I'll order them again, but I'll remind them to heat up the carne asada, gets some char off the grill to make it super tasty . Stopped for a breakfast burrito a couple days later. It was really good but for my tastes, I need to add another egg and more bacon. They were very generous with the potatoes, but that meant that you didn't get enough egg as the potatoes dominated. Unfortunately service wise I am annoyed. They keep giving me a chili relleno burrito instead of just a chile relleno. That's the second time it's happened. Most people would be thrilled because you're only paying 3.50 and you get a whole burrito but we want just a chile relleno -solamente! We also ordered bean burritos which are pretty good, we'll give it a 7.5 out of 10. Probably solid 8 if you eat it there cuz it's nice and hot but we have to take it back to Heron Lake and by then it's only lukewarm. I'm not a big fan of microwaving so we just eat it that way. Fina's nearby is rated higher but I found their food barely edible. I think Finas have people putting in fake reviews and the locals are pumping up there numbers in support of them because they support the community. I say this because some of our visitors and year-round staff where I am camp hosting this summer say -IF- they go there it's only for breakfast burritos. I agree with them cuz I had a non-breakfast meal there and it sucked. So, Santy's isn't perfect service wise yet but... the food doesn't suck. They keep giving me more food than I'm ordering but I would just like them to get the order right.

Delish and quick meal. We got it to-go and greatly enjoyed it. The habanero salsa is no joke!

A restaurant that's open 7 days a week, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? What a concept! My two beef burritos were fine but excessively juicy, and I will order something different next time. The rice and beans were both very good. My wife enjoyed her burrito bowl, which had generous portions. Their prices were very reasonable. I was super thirsty after a hard day's work and much appreciated the free refill of my large pink lemonade!
